MANSFIELD, OHIO. The Renaissance Performing Arts Association announces that the Mansfield Symphony Youth Orchestra, under the direction of Ettore Chiudioni, will present their annual "Holiday Prelude" as their first formal concert of the season on Sunday, December 9 at 4PM in the Renaissance Theatre. Tickets are on sale at the Renaissance Box Office, Monday - Friday, 10AM - 5PM, by calling 419-522-2726, at Metronome Music Store or from any MSYO member. The cost for adults is $5 in advance and $6 at the door. Students and seniors are $3 in advance and $4 at the door.
The Mansfield Symphony Youth Orchestra will play music from Swan Lake and Sleeping Beauty, both by Tchaikovsky, as well as two pieces by Bizet and Poet and Peasant Overture by von Suppe.
Special guest at the concert will be tenor Daniel J. Doty, singing "O, Holy Night", "Gesu, Bambino", and Luciano Pavarotti's most famous area from Turandot, "Nessun Dorma". Daniel has appeared throughout the midwest with orchestras and opera companies. A participant of the Opera Theatre and Music Festival of Lucca, he spent six weeks in the Tuscan village of Lucca (Italy) singing operatic arias at various venues associated with Lucca's most famous son, Giacomo Puccini. He has appeared with symphonies in Muncie, IN., Urbana, IL, Marion, OH, and community bands in Medina and Wadsworth. Daniel has previously appeared with Marcus Neiman and the Sounds of Sousa Band on the Lock 3 stage in Akron for their 9/11 celebration. H holds a bachelor of music education degree from Bowling Green State University. He has taught music in the public school systems of Ohio and Illinois. He is also an ordained minister and holds a master of divinity degree from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, IL. While earning the Master of Divinity, Daniel served as pastor of the Ashkum United Methodist Church in Ashkum, IL. Currently senior minister at Trinity United Church of Christ, Daniel resides in Wadsworth with his wife Amy and their children Kristian, Sean-Michael, and Kaetlyn Noel.
The Mansfield Symphony Youth Orchestra was first organized in 1982 with the primary purpose of establishing an outlet for outstanding instrumental music students. The Mansfield Symphony Orchestra is comprised of ninety musicians representing twenty-two schools including many local schools as well as Wooster, Findlay, Mt. Vernon, and Willard, primarily in grades nine through twelve. They rehearse Monday evenings from 7PM - 9PM at Malabar Middle School. In addition to its two formal concerts each year, the MSYO also performs Lollipop concerts at area schools, which are designed to appeal to students from preschool through grade five.
