Brandon came to Mansfield three years ago to create a new box office operation for the Johnny Appleseed Outdoor Drama. Previous to that he spent two seasons as Box Office Manager for Northern Stage Theatre Company in White River Junction Vermont where he had the pleasure of working with Patrick Stewart, Brooke Ciardelli, and Catherine Dougherty. Growing up in Chillicothe, Oh he was surrounded by rich history and great theatrical drama. Tecumseh! was a part of his life from the time he was 15. His brother worked as a box office assistant and actually got him his first professional theatre job as a ticket taker making $50 a week. After two years as a part time ticket taker, and at the age of 18, he was offered the job of Theatre Manager. His 5 year stint in that role created an operations template for outdoor drama that is still being used all over the United States. From there he went to the Stella Adler Conservatory of Acting in New York where he was trained and tutored by Elaine Stritch, Whoopi Goldberg, Yoshi Oida, Mark Rylance, Deborah Kampeier, and Milton Justice just to drop a few names. After graduating in 1998, he stuck around New York running box offices, producing plays, and marketing Broadway shows such as “Squonk” and “Jodi’s Body”. He also worked with the New York Philharmonic where his love of classical music was rekindled. His time in New York ran out shortly after Sept 11th, and a strange and unusual series of events led him from Times Square, to the Mountains of New England, and back home to Ohio. “Living in New York provides you with some pretty cool opportunities like talking on the phone with Marlon Brando, or having a drink with Alan Parsons or having Lawrence Fishburne ask to borrow your pocket knife so he can cut the cake at some post show party. But I do have a real love for helping to create theatre in the Heartland, it means so much more when you reach peoples hearts and minds at home.” In between running theatre operations, he also served as Vermont State chairperson during the 2004 presidential campaign. He suggests that everyone should be involved at a high level in national politics once. “You learn a lot!” He resides in downtown Mansfield with his partner Dan, their two black cats, and 5 fish.
