Symphony League

We would like to share with you the wonderful accomplishments of the 07-08 season - one that has been filled with ground-breaking collaborations and outreach.

The Mansfield Symphony - Symphony League
  • Composer Residency in September - Behzad Ranjbaran joined us for the Opening Gala Concert as guest cellist, Paul Tobias, performed the music written for him - Ranjabaran's Cello Concerto. The opportunity to have a composer with us is invaluable for the musicians and provides unparallel insight into the piece for our audiences. The composer residency will become an annual tradition, featuring some of America's leading composers.

  • NAMI Collaboration in October - A celebration of composers who created exhilarating art while living with debilitating disorders, this unique program was an important partnership with the Richland County National Alliance on Mental Illness and was the first of its kind in the State of Ohio. The Professor of Psychiatry at Johns Hopkins University and published author, Dr. Kay Redfield Jamison, enlightened our symphony-goers about the compelling connection between mental disorders and enhanced creativity.

  • Record Ticket Sales in December - Our Holiday Pops! and The Nutcracker performances broke the record for ticket sales, once again proving that classical music is still in demand across the generations. We were thrilled to have shared the holiday season with more friends than any season in history!

  • In-School Visits - Music Director, Robert Franz, has visited over a dozen schools so far this season, personally meeting over 500 students and distributing free Symphony tickets to each one, representing more than $10,000 in donated tickets from The Renaissance.

  • Gospel Pops in March - Award-winning conductor and composer, Charles Floyd, led The Mansfield Symphony and Chorus, along with over 100 singers from local churches, in a gospel extravaganza created just for us by Mr. Floyd.

  • Innovative Collaboration with the Mansfield Art Center in May - With yet another ground-breaking Symphonic experiment, The Symphony and the Art Center is collaborating for Art Live!, as local artists create visual art right before your eyes on the Renaissance stage while the orchestra performs Michael Torke's Ash.

  • Ten Dollar Tickets - Let it never be said of The Mansfield Symphony that someone who wants to see a live performance cannot because of a financial barrier. This season The Symphony created its "Ten Club", offering a $10 ticket for every concert with no strings attached!

We ask that you help us to continue to present exceptional concerts and succeed in our mission of outreach and collaboration with your gift this year. We look forward to presenting incredible symphonic music in the seasons to come.
